Public health authorities conclude that the Irish population should eat more fish, particularly so given our island nation status.

This is such a shame when we have so many nutrient rich options here on our little island. The increasing positive evidence of fish consumption supports a national recommendation that we eat more fish, at least two portions a week, which we do on our 4 week meal plan menus. Fish is vital in developing a healthy body, for people of all ages, from teenagers to expectant mothers, and people of more mature years.

Nutritional Elements

Fish, such as salmon, is an excellent sources of Protein, Vitamin D, Selenium and Omega-3 fatty acids.

Many sources of fish are low in fat meaning they are a great source of lean protein. It’s one of the best animal sources of protein, with much less saturated fat then red meat. Protein levels across fish types vary. Omega-3s are essential for brain development and reducing age-related deterioration, associated with heart health, prevention of blood clots and may help to lower blood pressure. Fish can also help to develop healthy nervous system, eyes and skin.

GourmetFuel’s Almond & Sesame Crusted Salmon is a highly nutritious power lunch packed full of protein and omega 3 fatty as well as phytonutrients from the sweet potato and spinach.
