Men’s Health: Movember
We’ve decided to dedicate this weeks blog to the guys, with November being all about Men’s Mental Health and Movember. Maybe you have decided to grow that tash for Movember or run that 5k every night or may do nothing and donate to a charity.

Movember is more commonly known for the awkward facial hair your mate at work grows. But it’s really all about raising awareness around Men’s Health. In Ireland, women live an average of 6 years longer than men. There is growing evidence that while maintaining their male identity, men neglect to look after their health. Things like “I’m grand” and “ah sure look” are used to cover the symptoms of mental health problems in themselves.
Things To Know And Do

- Stay connected. Your mates are important and spending time with them is good for you. Catch up regularly, check in and make time.
- You don’t need to be an expert and you don’t have to be the sole solution, but being there for someone, listening and giving your time can be life-saving.
- Avoid smoking for many reasons. Drink alcohol in moderation, effects of alcohol and hangovers can actually induce anxiety and increase stress.
- Eat more fish – evidence from several studies suggest that fish can help protect against prostate cancer because they have “good fat” particularly omega-3 fatty acids. Avoid trans fatty acids (found in margarine).
When it comes to mental health, what you eat can make a big difference. In the spirit of Men’s Health: Movember our team of nutritionists have made a Mens Health Meal Plan designed to give your body and mind all the nutrients it needs to thrive.

Men’s Health: Movember: What Can You Do to Raise Awareness …
In aid of Men’s Health: Movember, men are challenged to grow a moustache, and men and women can be physically active and move or host a fundraising event. Not only do these commitments raise vital funds, but they also generate powerful and often life-changing conversations.
